Empath Tip #2: Sometimes you can't save the one you want to.

There is someone in my life that I would like to save. I'd like to pull this person out of their circumstances, show them how loved they are, and help them restart a life on their own.

I want them to believe in themselves like I believe in them.

I want them to have the kind of love in life that they truly deserve.

I want them to have things that make them happy, just for themselves, not for anyone else, and not because someone else told them that it was (or was not) okay to have them.

I want them to believe in themselves like I believe in them.

I want them to have things that make them happy, just for themselves, not for anyone else, and not because someone else told them that it was (or was not) okay to have them.

I've wanted this for a long time. I've tried to talk with this person on many occasions about my concerns about their partner and how I see this person's identity slowly being absorbed as the other person keeps gaining more control.

I've tried so many times to help. I've laid awake at night and worried about this person. I've talked with a therapist who specializes in co-dependent relationships to see what an approach would be.

I'd do just about anything to make this person's life better. I'd do just about anything to see this person's light shine again.

But I've been told repeatedly that this person is happy. That they want the life they are in. That they love the chaos. That I am worrying too much.

Unfortunately, because I'm an empath, I KNOW I am not worrying too much. I know - because I can feel it - how wrong things actually are. I know - because it's pretty damn hard to tell an empath a lie - that this person's partner lies all the time, about little and big things; about important and unimportant things. I know it is a pathology, and I know that's not healthy for this person.

And I've had to accept that I cannot do more than I have done.

I stand at the ready to help if that call ever comes. I still listen and support and share and love.

But I can't save this person. And it breaks my heart.

I'll never forget the moment a doctor told me, "Well, now you've got chronic fatigue. It's incurable; you'll have to live with it."

It wasn't entirely surprising to me; I'd been working myself over 100 hour weeks even after being diagnosed with mono and told to take 6 weeks off. Instead, I'd taken only a half day off and just kept going.

And now, I'd finally hit a wall. I'd be able to do something for an hour, then I'd have to lay down for the rest of the day.

It. was. AWFUL.

And I knew - I KNEW - that there was a connection between running myself ragged trying to live up to everyone's expectations and hold everyone together, and my diagnosis.

I started to research everything - psychology, philosophy, religious texts, Eastern medicine, anatomy and physiology, energetic medicine, and even quantum physics.

My husband called me the "nutty professor," because he would find me pouring over quantum physics books at 3AM.

I knew that if I could find a connection between all of these disparate studies, I could find something that could not only help me heal, but help others, too.

One morning, I had a huge "Aha!" moment, and I called up my husband at work and began babbling about science and vibration and frequency and the unconscious mind.

The rest is history. I healed myself with my discovery. I started helping my friends and family heal using the same methodology, and I fine-tuned it and turned it into The Flow Method, and then, when I realized that I could translate people's pain and disease and help them heal, I created the Body Language course.

I've helped people around the globe understand the messages their body is sending and to heal. Once you learn it, you can use it for the rest of your life, anytime you feel a pain or disease starting.

As an empath, you feel the emotions of the world as your own.

One of the most difficult and debilitating things about being an empath is that you feel other's emotions as your own; it can be extremely difficult to be able to tell whether it's your emotion you're feeling or others emotions from around you.

You'll also notice that there are times when you wake up and just feel amped, worried, anxious, and on high alert. There won't be anything in your immediate world that's particularly disturbing, so it's hard to figure out why in the world you feel so "off."

One of the most difficult and debilitating things about being an empath is that you feel other's emotions as your own; it can be extremely difficult to be able to tell whether it's your emotion you're feeling or others emotions from around you.

You'll also notice that there are times when you wake up and just feel amped, worried, anxious, and on high alert. There won't be anything in your immediate world that's particularly disturbing, so it's hard to figure out why in the world you feel so "off."

Then, maybe a couple hours later, you find out that some major disaster or seriously stressful event has happened in the world. So, what you were feeling in the morning - without even knowing it - is the collective feeling of stress, sorrow, and fear that goes along with some trauma or tragedy on a large scale.

You didn't know, but you KNEW.

When you are an empath, you are a lot like a radio receiver.

You are unconsciously tuning in to all the waves of emotion, information, feeling, and experience in the whole world (or in the people right next to you) all the time.

And, when you are unaware that you are doing this, it can be BEYOND overwhelming and exhausting. Think of someone sticking you in a room with 400,000 speakers, all tuned to different kinds of stations - from political to rock to rap to country to EDM to whatever - and you can understand how quickly that would bring you to your knees and overwhelm your senses.

If you are an #empath, the EXACT same thing is happening to you every second of every day, even when you are asleep. If you don't learn how to turn it off sometimes and to manage how much to take in, you WILL burn out. (Believe me, I have been there!)
