Before I realized I was an empath, I used to walk past someone and suddenly be hit with anxiety or depression or anger, and I would think I was crazy for feeling that. I would sometimes get flashes of something that had happened in that person's life that made them feel that way. Sometimes I was able to verify that flash of info was correct; sometimes (like if it was a stranger), I could not.
After being that open to all of that for an entire day, then week, then month, I would often have to shut out the world for a full weekend, pulling the covers over my head to try to shut out any more information, emotion, or stimulation from hitting my overloaded system.
This quick shield exercise will still allow connection to other humans, but also allow you to control how much you are taking on.
I promise, you can feel SO much better. You can be energized. You can have enough energy left for yourself at the end of the day. And it starts with a simple practice to create some healthy energetic boundaries around yourself.
